He Waits
In the silence
my Lord cries out to me.
In the silence
he is waiting for me.
The restless beat of my heart
tells me that he waits.
In restless procrastination
I pile action upon action;
he waits.
All day I am busy
with task upon task;
he waits.
From thing to thing,
action to action,
thought to thought
I fly;
still he waits.
And while I wait
in the silence
I am impatient!
“Where is he?”
Do I not know
in the silence
he waits for me?
